JJ Reviews: Lego Game Ramses Return

Have I told you about my little Lego fan before?  We have actually now got to the stage where we have had to say to JJ that he can not really have any more Lego until he makes some of the sets back up!  Right now he has two enormous recycling tubs full of Lego and he is only 7 years old!  He has a serious addiction.  The good thing is that Lego is the best toy as its appeal lasts for years.

When I said to him, 'JJ, fancy reviewing a new game from Lego?'  he nearly knocked me over in his jump for joy!  On Friday he returned from school to find the package on the table and again squealed, 'can we play tonight Mummy, please, oh can we?'.  Well, Mummy was going out so I left Daddy in charge of having a game with JJ and reporting back to me.

I got home to find that daddy had enjoyed his game of Ramses Return but that the instructions were quite difficult to understand.  Err really?  That does not sound very Lego.  So roll forward to the next night and JJ sets up the game and is able to explain the rules and object of the game to me off the top of his head - yes sounds very difficult dh! lol, I check out the instruction booklet and find no problems, I think perhaps dh was a tad tired!

The game is pretty small and that would make it super as a travel game to take on holidays and such.  When the board is made up it fits in the box and I liked that, it saves time.  JJ tells me he enjoyed putting the board together the first time they played, even down to making the dice faces up.

The game can be played with 2 - 4 players and is aimed at children age 7 upwards. The object of the game is to move your piece around the board without being cursed by the Mummy and gaining at least 3 pieces of gold treasure. One of the things I liked was that this really helped develop JJ's memory as he had to recall which coloured crystals were hidden under the temples. It was a nice little game and I will happily play it again.  Often JJ and I play a game before bed as a treat if he has been good during the day.  This game will be a particular favourite of mine as it only took about 10 minutes.  Perfect. I got to spend some quality time with my child but I could easily fit it into our busy bedtime routine once the girls were in their beds.

JJ wanted to tell you about the game himself, so here is a little vlog that he made.

The game retails for £9.99 and you can buy it directly online from Lego or all good toy retailers will stock Lego games. There is a link to purchase it on Amazon below too.

Here is how we scored the game -

Set Up                                   5/5
Appeal to children                5/5
Appeal to adults                   5/5 (yes it is simple, but let's be honest you are playing it for your child)
Fun factor                            5/5
Encourages creativity          5/5 (as you can make up your own rules too)

I can't actually think of any downfalls for this game I am afraid.

Disclosure: This is a review post.  I was offered this review opportunity by Netmums, I am being paid to write a review and was given the game for free but I have not been told what to write.  My review is honest and the words are my own.
