What Are The Best Family Day Trips in Norfolk?

Norfolk is a beautiful part of the country and for my family it is just far enough away to feel like a holiday but close enough that the kids do not play up on the couple of hour journey there. We have spent many good holidays in the Great Yarmouth area and I have found memories of Miss E taking her first steps there.... its the little things that stay with you.

I have a good friend over in Norfolk and the kids and I are really keen to go and visit her again. A bright idea might be for us to find a good holiday park that is local enough, then we can meet up but not be on top of her.  There is so much to do in Norfolk that we would want at least a week there to explore and enjoy.  Here are the top places to visit on my hit list -

1.  Pettitts Animal Adventure Park comes highly recommended and there looks as if there is loads to do there - daily shows for the children, many rides such as the teacups and mine train roller coaster,  crazy golf, adventure playground, bouncy castle, large slides. It is all for one entry price as well and I love that, the worst feeling as a parent is when you pay to get in and then need to keep on paying more and more! The pricing is really reasonable and if my family of 5 booked in advance it would cost us about £54 for a super-full day out.

2.  BeWILDerwood is not somewhere I had heard of before but my friend Clare tells me it is an absolute must visit. No matter what the weather the trees provide good coverage and we will have super fun she tells me. Just a quick hop around the website and I know that my little Miss M could easily get lost in this make-believe paradise. Boat rides, tree houses, rope bridges, zip wires, storytelling and lots more all set in an award winning forest. Check out Clare's review from when she visited.

3.  My kids love to visit the zoo and Banham Zoo looks very good, there is a great selection of animals from penguins to tigers and monkeys to snakes. I also like the fact that there is SkyTrek and Junior SkyTrek based there too, high ropes courses are just the sort of thing to appeal to my adventurous 9 year old JJ

4.  As well as the commercial days out it is always good to get the family together to do something a little more low key and back to nature. Another friend Liz recommended Blakeney Point to me and I see it is a National Trust nature reserve.  Just look at the picture below, 3 miles of sand and shingle which is a paradise for all sorts of wildlife and the part that really appeals to me - you can spot seals here, how fab is that?

5.  I'll admit to you that I am a sucker for a good British seaside town and I don't mind a bit of the old fashioned 'kiss me quick' mentality. Many times we have headed to the sea front at Great Yarmouth and enjoyed the penny arcades, chips from the wrapper on the promenade and a walk along the beach. There is 15 miles of sandy beachfront so pack your bucket and spade and have an old-fashioned family day together and yes I can confirm someone always does still get buried in the sand!

There you go, just a few days out if you are planning to spend some time in Norfolk.
