Looking through different eyes #FitandFree

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
I see Michelle staring back at me.

I see her blond hair, her crowing glory,
I see the lines round her eyes telling her story.

I see a smile, a grin, a bit one-sided,
It's OK though, it's grown on me. I refuse to hide it.

I see a body that's big and out of shape,
But it has born three beautiful children and isn't that great?

I see love and wisdom and even grace,
All shining from her round disciples face.

I see a woman who is able and willing, ready to change her story,
One who wants to give herself to the Fathers glory.

I see determination and a steely grit,
Michelle is making changes and she will get fit.

Thank you Jesus that as I run you stand by me and run with me. I love to chat to you as I make these changes in my life and then I know I will be fit for your purpose and free from the bondage of sin.

Monday I did my first run for the Couch to 5K program and parts of it were really tough. I am currently 7.5 stone more than an NHS recommended healthy weight. I suspect that weight would make me about a size 12 and that is beyond my wildest dreams but this year my dreams come true. Not because I want to look slim and stunning (as I suspect I will actually have an abundance of saggy skin and no boobs left) but because I need to be fit. I must be that good example to my kids and I must be fit and ready for whatever God has in store for me. I can no longer sit back and rest on my laurels. Change time has come.

As you can probably tell I feel good about this change and good about me. In April 2011 I wrote a poem titled 'I am Beautiful' and it was about how I had to accept me and stop being so harsh and judgemental and writing this new part to it today tells me I am there and I accept me. Now I have peace, I can make changes.

I've signed up for the Race for Life 5K and I'll do this in Hastings on 14th June 2015.  I've done it once before back in 2008 but my fitness level is completely different, as I've learnt this week! if you fancy sponsoring me, even a £1, then please visit - https://www.justgiving.com/michellepannell

Thanks, be blessed, Mich x
