Friends of Faith - We need you to join together for #PrayerForEveryone

As Christians we are taught to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and every one of us who is committed to an intimate relationship with Jesus knows the power of prayer. God speaks to us in many ways, but for me none stronger than through His word and I speak to him through prayer. Not always long, deep or particularly complex prayer, mostly just chatting throughout my day. Thanking Him, asking for strength, looking for guidance, lifting His name and praying for others.

Probably one of my most common prayers to God is about the state of His world. How broken things are here, so much crime, injustice and people going hungry. Countries at war and all for no good reason. Satan and the love of money often being the root of that evil but the day will come when all will be right again. Until that day we all need to play our part in both prayer and actions to support the people who are not as fortunate as us.

Having travelled to Ethiopia and Belarus I've seen some examples of people living in extreme poverty and terrible circumstances and though my work with the Hastings Food Bank and my husbands work with Night Church we know there are many, many people living just ten miles down the road from us who can not afford a meal. I really feel their pain, in the last five years my compassion level and desire to help has grown immensely, it if were sensible to say so I'd say it has grown by about 1000%.

I have to do what I can to help. We are not all called to go abroad and be missionaries, we are not all called to give massive chunks of money (lucky as we don't have any) but we are all called to be light in a dark world. My blog is one way I shine my light and today I wanted to share with you news of the global week for #PrayerForEveryone from Thursday 24th September - Thursday 1st October 2015.

This isn't just for Christians like me though, it is for anyone who feels they have a faith. Let us all join together - Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Jews and every other faith or those who feel their faith is spirituality, it really does not matter for this, all we need is believing people to pray. Prayer works and you surely agree that we need #PrayerForEveryone?

On 25th September 193 world leaders (and the United Nations) commit to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development to achieve three extraordinary things by 2030 -

  • End extreme poverty.
  • Fight inequality and injustice.
  • Combat climate change.

The Global Goals for sustainable development could get these things done. In all countries. For all people.

But to achieve these Goals, everyone needs to know about them and this is where we all come in, everyone from every faith, every walk of life, everywhere, can take part in Prayer for Everyone by sharing the Goals with their faith community and their friends.

Will you please join us and champion the Goals through the teachings and practices of your faith? Talk to your Vicar/ Pastor/ Priest and ask them to say a few words in Church, share on your church webpages, tell your small group, hold a prayer meeting, pray yourself - just do something please.

There is a good Christian resource pack if you wish to use social media as your way of sharing and want ready to use images, tweets and Facebook posts - SEE HERE.

There are different resource packs for most of the major faiths in fact - SEE HERE.

I'll be writing lots more about the Global Goals in the next week and coming years so please do stay tuned if you would like to know more and find out how you can help if you are not a praying person.

Sincerely thank you for any help you can give, Mich x
