I'm a big fan of Internet based on-demand TV, we have been using it for about 18 months now since we moved to the countryside and were not able to continue with our cable TV, But you know what? I am so glad we had to give up the cable as being tied into an expensive contract is a headache.
Much better to be able to pay month by month and to finish your subscription whenever you need to without any penalties. We only got NOW TV about three weeks ago but I have already been crowned the best mum ever by my girls. Apparently it is the most awesome on-demand TV there is and I suppose that is only to be expected when you realise it is the offering from Sky.
And now is the perfect time to buy as today is Black Friday and most of the major retailers are offering great deals but you don't have to go and fight in the shops for this one, you can order online.
Today's great saving is 40% on a Now TV Box Bundle, making the cost of any of the following deals just £14.99 -
- Now TV Box & 2 months Movies,
- Now TV Box & 3 months Entertainment or
- Now TV Box & 2 Sports Day Passes
I'm seriously considering giving this gift to my adult brother for Christmas. This is far cheaper than the £25 I'd normally spend and I love the idea of a gift that entertains the whole year through. Even if he decided not to keep up the subscription to the entertainment, movies or sports that I have chosen for him, he can still use the NOW TV box as a really convenient way to stream things like BBC iPlayer to his TV.
I'm very impressed with the amount of programmes and movies available to watch though. I have to say it is better that than the service I have previously been using. It is the combination of being able to watch live TV as well as to stream on-demand that make NOW TV, so appealing to me and it gives the best of both worlds
We currently have both the Entertainment and Movies packages and have happily been using both.
Entertainment is normally £6.99 a month and allow you allow to live channels such as Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Fox, Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel t name just a few. There there are over 250 box sets to choose from with varying amounts of seasons available. I would say you need to check the expiry date before you start watching a very long series as I see some are due to expire in the next few months.
My husband and I have been drawing up a hit list of what we *may* binge watch over the coming cold months. our list includes Entourage, Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, The West Wing, Tales of the Unexpected (the original 80's series) and 24.
You might be wondering why the girls have named me best mum ever. Well it was about being able to access Nickelodeon, Nick Junior and the Disney Channel live again. They are super excited to be able to watch programmes like iCarly, Victorious, Good Luck Charlie and Jessie. In fact all the US pre-teen/ teen sitcoms that depict the kind of life Miss M feels she should be living. I had have to laugh as well though as they both are experiencing a nostalgic time and I've found them watching Ben & Holly and even Peppa Pig like they used to when they were very young.
My 12 year old JJ has also been very happy since NOW TV arrived as he has his teatime hour back. He used to love watching Simpsons and Futurama on Sky 1 and now he can once again.
Movies - Again you can watch both live TV or any of the movies on demand and I really was quite astonished to see that the films that were airing live in Sky premier can also be watched on-demand. I'm really not sure I'll be going anywhere much this Christmas, as I have everything I need with 11 and 1000+ movies including up to 1 new premieres each month. Blackhat, The Wedding Ringers, Sex Tape and Taken 3. All this just for the price of £9.99 per month and let's be honest, that is little different to one cinema ticket. I know which one I prefer!
Sky Sports - We also have the Sky Sports subscription and I''ll be honest this is mostly for my Dad as we are not that much into sport. This gives 7 Sky Sports channels for the rolling pass at £31.99 per month and you can set which sports and teams are your favourites and NOW TV will send reminders so you never miss your favourites again.
We are all really enjoying using the NOW TV service and we have registered our 4 mobile devices but are only able to use two at a time. So I have to keep an eye on the kids and pull rank if there is something I want to watch!
If you fancy trying out NOW TV, then as I mentioned earlier now is the perfect time and go investigate the 40% off Box Set Deals for Black Friday! Afteral hat else can you do with £14.99?
Disclosure: I have been provided with access to NOW TV in exchange for writing honestly about my impressions of the TV service. I have also registered as an affiliate and I will gain a commission if you buy via a link in my post. Rest assured you still pay the same great price!
