More My Kind of Camping

The family are all preparing for their various camps that are coming up over the next couple of months but I've already mentioned I'm not very into camping. The thought of a hard and uneven floor and potentially cold nights and rain just don't appeal.

I can get on board with the idea of building my own camp out of Lego though and that is exactly what I had planned to do after the girls arrived home from school but Miss E (who is my major LEGO fan) informed me that the new LEGO Friends Adventure Camp Rafting Playset we had been sent to review said it was for children aged 6 plus and seeing as she is 8, nearly 9 she wouldn't be needing me at all.

Miss E settled straight down after her homework to build this 300+ piece set and it took her under half an hour to complete the 68 step building booklet. The booklet is really easy to follow as it has glossy full colour pages with pictorial instructions for building the set.

I was then called in to help play and we had to roll play our camping trip with toasting marshmallows, white water rafting, having a sleepover and taking photos of the bear fishing in the rapids.

As always the LEGO is great quality and built to last. My kids play with LEGO that was bought for my brother over thirty years ago and it is lucky it lasts so well as it is an investment toy. This set retails for £24.99 and that feels like quite a high price for the amount of LEGO that you actually get. I notice that is is £19.99 on John Lewis, which is a good deal.

Miss E does really like this set though as it comes with two LEGO Friends characters - Andrea and Olivia and some fabulous little accessories, like the compass tile, gold trophy, camera, orange life vests, pink helmet and marshmallows on sticks for toasting. Probably her favourite piece is the little brwn bear as she has not had one of those before.

Take a look at the set in action -

Miss E has spotted the Adventure Camp Tree House and is now asking for that for her birthday in a couple of months so I had better get saving.

Disclosure: We received this set free of charge for the purpose of this review. I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest.
