Desenio - Kitting our House out with Gorgeous Prints

I have to be honest, I don't have the best eye for interior design. I know what I like and I'd love to be able to create something really eclectic and beautiful but I just don't seem to have been born with that skill. My house is always very comfortable but quite safe in its decor and things often match a little too much rather than compliment.

When Desenio.co.uk got in touch to ask me to review some of their prints I was a little scared at first. Yes there are hundreds of gorgeous poster and print designs in their shop but how would I know what works well with what? I needn't have worried as their inspiration and beautiful partnerships sections are great. Just what I need to spark some ideas of how things can look really stunning. I now know that mixing frames, print sizes and inspirational quotes with images all work fantastically.

I was a bit blown away when I started to search their web shop. There is so much variety and with starting prices of £2.29 for a 5 x 7 poster it doesn't have to be expensive at all to buy something gorgeous. It is also impressive that the 8 x 12 'Life is' quote (£4.49) and white wooden frame to match (£6.57) that I got as a gift for my niece, cost just £11.06 and that is her Christmas gift sorted.

When the kids saw me looking they begged me to let them in on the action too and could they please give their rooms a bit of a make-over? Well who am I to argue when Desenio were being so generous, so JJ chose a cool wolf print to go above his bed and then he thought the batman quote was super funny and he got that for by his desk. Just a little bit of fun for whilst he does his homework!

Miss M could have literally decorated ten or twelve rooms as she loved everything we saw, we flipped from page to page and she was taken with inspirational quotes, fashion Images, beach shots and of course the animals. In the end she opted for a large poster of a comedy bear on a bike and a smaller bambi with pink bow and wild print. I think these three really demonstrate her personality - quirky, fun, animal loving and just a little wild too! (You can see these in the top header image)

Of course Miss M doesn't know it, but I ordered a couple of smaller prints with frames to keep for her for Christmas. She is so into her fashion and I love the quote from Marc Jacobs about being beautiful and I thought it would be well complimented by the perfume bottle that reminds her she is my number 1 (well one of them anyway!)

Miss E was next to want to place an order and the first thing she spotted was a large map with animals on, apparently they have one at school too. I thought that as well as looking gorgeous, it will also be pretty useful for talking geography and helping her have a passion to explore. For such a large print (we ordered 50 x 70cm size) I think the price of the print (£15.99) and the frame (£20.99) was exceptionally good.

She also choose to go for two smaller commentary prints and fancied the cooper frame to give them a hint of pink, to match her bedroom. (You can see these in the top header image)

I didn't think it was fair for the kids to just have all the fun so I choose myself a collection of three inspirational prints and frames to put in our entrance hall. How cool is it to give the kids a continual reminder that love never fails (bible verse 1 Corinthians 13:8), that they are responsible for changing their thoughts and that can change their world and also to remember that it is not what we have that makes the difference, it is who we have in our lives.

I've made a vlog to show you all the items that arrived for us from Desenio, take a peek -

Poster Quality
Posters up to 8 x 12" are sent flat in an envelope and anything bigger is sent rolled in a tube. At first I worried about the curl in these posters but I found if you leave them on the side, they naturally uncurl and if you put them in the frame the weight of the back is enough to straight them without any blemish. Don't be tempted to try and roll them the other way or you may get little creases, bumps.

All my prints arrived in great condition and the are printed on 200gsm matte uncoated premium paper, which is FSC certified.

Frame Quality
I ordered two different types of frames. The lightweight metal ones with an 8mm frame and plexiglass that have very easy fixings to open them and they need to be wall mounted at any size of 8 x 12 or bigger. These start at just £2.99 for a 5 x 7" one and are available in silver, gold and copper.

Also the wooden ones and most I got had plexiglass but you can also order some with real glass. The width of the frame is 12mm and the depth is 12mm. These are available in black, white or oak and the starting price is £2,88 for a 5 x 7" size.

I have to say that whilst the plexiglass is really light and makes the frame very movable, I prefer the real glass as I managed to scratch one of the plexi fronts within my time unpacking and I'm not even sure how I did it!

Shipping
In all we had a really good shopping experience with Desenio, I placed the order about 10pm on Thursday night and it arrived on the following Tuesday, so the delivery was quick and efficient. The products were really well packaged and they all arrived in pristine condition. Shipping is free if you spend over £29 and I think that is very reasonable. If your order is below that value the shipping will be £3.99 which again I think is good value.

Returns
If you change your mind or something is not to your liking then do get in touch with Desenio as they are very interested in every customer being happy. If you need to return anything you pay for the return postage and have 14 days to make the return.

Disclosure: I was paid a fee to impartially review these products from Desenio. I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest
