My Top Five Legal Dramas to Watch Right Now!

I absolutely love getting absorbed in a good box set and drama is definitely my go-to genre. Give me medical, political, crime or legal dramas and I really am in my happy place.

I can't believe how cheap it is nowadays to be able to watch all the programmes that I love. For less than the cost of a trip to the cinema for my husband and I we have everything we want at our fingertips. We have Netflix, which costs £7.99 a month and also NOW TV, which is £6.99 per month for the entertainment pass.  However I got lucky with the McDonalds Monopoly earlier this year and got a 6 month pass for free, so it has been super cheap this year.

In case you're looking for some new legal dramas, I thought I'd share with you my top five -

1.  Suits
Suits has to come in as my top pick. Since I first met Harvey Spector, about three years ago I have been hooked. Suits follows the lives of the a group of lawyers and the cases they work on. Zane, Spector, Litt are the criminal lawyers that can solve just about any case, and all the while maintaining complex social lives and interesting office politics. I'm watching season 8 week by week as a new episode is released and I can't wait to see what happens next. Who knows maybe Harvey will move away and join a firm of Sydney criminal lawyers, or maybe not?  What I am hoping, is that there might be a little romance between him and Samantha Wheeler, the new character played by Katherine Heigl.

2.  How to Get Away with Murder
I only started watching How to get away with murder two weeks ago but I was instantly hooked and I'm a little embarrassed to say that I devoured all three seasons in no time at all. I love Shonda Rhimes as a producer, after first discovering her from watching her series Scandal (did I also mention I adore political dramas too), and she didn't disappoint.

How to get away with murder is really quite a complex plot, following the lives of a lawyer and legal professor - Analyise Keating and a group of students she teaches. Throughout the three seasons there is a golden thread of one murder running through each and then each episode there is a separate legal case to be solved and taken to court.

3.  For the People
Another one I only recently discovered and currently there are only six episodes on NOW TV, so at only 40 minutes an episode, my husband and I managed to watch all those in one sitting. I know the first season is ten episodes so I hope the others will become available to watch and a second season has been signed, so I have more to look forward to many more in the future.

For the people is set in the Southern District of New York Federal court and follows the lives of a group of newly qualified lawyers as they take on and try their first cases. We get to know both prosecutors and defenders and within a few episodes you'll have your favourites and start to learn their back stories and how they interact with each other.

4.  White Collar
I finished White Collar at least a year ago but it is still up there in my top five. I think once you've watched the very handsome Matt Bomer play Neal Caffrey and seen the on-screen chemistry he has with Peter Burke, played by Tim DeKay you'll be hooked too. The premise for the show is so good, you take one very clever criminal with unique insight and instincts and pair him up with an FBI agent to solve some of the very hardest criminal cases. With there being six seasons, that's 81 episodes you'll get to know the characters very well and if you're anything like me, you'll mourn them when it finishes!

5.  Bull
Bull comes last as I'm pretty new to this show but enjoying it a lot so far. It is a little different to my other picks as it is based around Dr Jason Bull, the founder of a successful trial consulting firm. What's really interesting is that Dr Bull's character is based on Dr Phil McGraw or Dr Phil as he is better know in the US, before he became a well known TV personality he had super uber successful trial consulting firm.

Bull uses his psychology knowledge, instinct and high-tech data to choose jurors for his clients, as well as advising his clients' lawyers on which type of argument will best win those jurors over. With a different case each episode, there is always something different to enjoy.

So what do you think?  Have you watched these five? Have you got any more fabulous recommendations for me?
