I told my kids the other day that my husband and I have reached middle-age and we're OK with it. In fact, we are embracing it; I treated myself to a new tapestry and he got some slippers and a footstool, so he can watch his favourite boxset in comfort and with toasty warm toes! It really is the little things in life that can make a difference.
I wanted to share with you the footstool that he got, as it is totally different to how I imagined but he is loving it, and yes I admit it, I have used it a few times in the day when he is at work and I'm doing a bit of work on the sofa.
We were sent the ICON Valencia real leather footstool from Bean Bag Bazaar, which is currently on sale for £79.99, this is great value for a quality leather product. The footstool is fairly small and light-as-a-feather as it is filled with beans. The dimensions are 27cm height and 43cm both width and depth.
You can see my husband enjoying his footstall above (well his feet, he wasn't in the mood for a photo!) This picture was taken at nighttime with the lights on and that makes the tan colour look lighter than it actually is. When the footstall arrived with us it was firmer than he expected but as it has been used, it is getting looser and gives a little more when your feet are placed on it, making it super comfortable. I'm glad to say it is keeping it's shape though and I hope it will last us a very long time. Looking at some of the customer reviews on the website, I suspect it will as one review was left in 2018, talking about how they had bought one in 2014 and were loving it so much, they had come back for a second.
The ICON Valencia real leather footstool is available in 4 colours - tan (which we got), chocolate, grey and black. The base of the beanbag is 100 cotton and it feels a thick and durable base. The zip allows you to access the beans inside, via a second zip, so that you don't get any accidental spillage if a child opens it. This, of course, gives you the option to top it up with beans in later years if you want a fuller or firmer footstool as it ages.
I was pleased to see that the stitching on it looks nice and tough as if it will last and be durable too.
Being a small footstool it is the perfect size for sitting at a coffee table, for holding your magazines, having a pre-schooler sit on it, or my husband often has his laptop on it, if not his feet!
Maintenance is just dry dust and if you spill anything on it then a specialist leather cleaner is recommended. I have some leather wax that I use on my sofa with a soft cloth and I'll probably use that on this footstool too. Being real leather, you don't want to use water on it.
Beanbag Bazar state that delivery will be three working days and we found it super quick, with the footstool being well packaged to prevent any damage in transit. In all, we are impressed and my husband is super happy with his footstool. We've been impressed with the products from Bean Bag Bazaar before, as we have one of their faux-fur large beanbags too.
