Are you tired of supermarket trips every week? After a long, hard week of working and parenting, the last thing you should have to worry about is doing the weekly food shopping. Getting up, getting ready and going to the supermarket is just another chore on our long list of things to do, never mind the tiring process of deciding your dinners for the week ahead, making sure your fussy eaters will be satisfied and writing your shopping list. You deserve to spend your weekends relaxing and doing activities you enjoy... And that’s exactly what you can do with the new Plate Up app!

Launched just last year, the Plate Up app lets you order the ingredients for recipes by top culinary experts and get them delivered to your door by your preferred supermarket. They are currently partnered with Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado. There are over 300 meals at your fingertips (with new recipes being added all the time) and you can complete a weekly food shop in just a few taps. Better yet, you can get your weekly food delivery from the comfort of your sofa and in 5 minutes or less!

On the app, you will find delicious, restaurant-quality recipes from the likes of the London chain eateries Grind, Caravan and Maple & Co, MasterChef finalist Emma Spitzer, professional chef Peta Leith and many more. Veggies and vegans, you’ll also be pleased to know that there are plenty of plant-based recipes from top chefs and brands such as Veganuary. To make the recipes tailored to you, you can even select your dietary preference and any allergies you have and the app will automatically filter out unsuitable meals. And, unlike traditional food box subscription services, there’s no pointless packaging or recipe cards with Plate Up so you can be satisfied in the knowledge that you won’t be harming any trees in the process.

Did you know that, according to the Centre for Time Use Research, the average person spends 60 hours food shopping every year? Just imagine what you could do with that time instead. In fact, the team at Plate Up have imagined for you - with 60 hours spare, you could watch one film every week for 12 weeks, unwind in 15 hot bubble baths, dance around the house for 30 minutes every week for six weeks, or get lost in 4 good ol’ books. All of this and you’d still have time left over to do more fun activities with your kids.

More and more parents are doing their grocery shop online and looking to order ingredients online - no doubt a trend that has been sped up by the pandemic - so Plate Up comes in handy. Since last year, Plate Up’s users have increased by over seven times! Over 6,700 people have downloaded the app, with hundreds more downloading it each week. The Plate Up app can be downloaded from the App Store at a monthly subscription of just £1.99, and there’s a 14-day free trial for you to check out the app first. It’s currently only on iOS, but a desktop version is in the pipeline, so be sure to keep an eye out. Supermarket delivery costs are the same as ordering directly from the supermarket online.
