It's so important to me to get outside and to be amongst nature. I know that I am calmer, less anxious and more happy when I have spent time walking through the forests or exploring somewhere new. Getting out for a nice long walk also provides me with a great excuse to spend some time with my nearly 18-year-old son. I'm becoming very aware that I only have a year before he'll head off to university and I'll only see him occasionally.
Today we headed out to Herstmonceux Castle which isn't too far from home but JJ has never been there before. I was excited as it was just the two of us and he had his new Regatta walking boots to wear in, before he heads off on a long hike next weekend.
He had a good selection of boots to choose from on the Regatta website and he
opted for the men's Edgepoint waterproof mid walking boots in black and granite, which are currently £70 and available in four different colourways and sizes 6 - 12.
Regatta had some men's walking boots as cheap as £24.95 in the sale so it is worth looking at. Delivery is free if you spend over £55, or £3.95 below that, which feels reasonable. They also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and if you are unhappy with your product and return it within 28 days in the condition you received it, you'll be refunded. It's also worth noting there is an extra 12% off everything is you are a student and have a .ac.uk email address, and tap into up to 9% cashback if you use Quidco. I do love finding a deal!
We had a good 2.5/3-hour walk today exploring the 300-acre estate and JJ tells me his boots were really comfortable. He didn't get any blisters or discomfort like you can with new shoes sometimes and considering it was 25 degrees and humid he said his feet stayed cool and dry. It was a dry day so we didn't have a chance to try out the water-resistance of the boots, but with a tested name like Regatta you know they will be OK.
Here are some of the features of these boots -
- Hydropel water resistant technology
- Isotex waterproof footwear - seam sealed with internal membrane bootee liner
- PU nubuck upper
- Deep padded neoprene collar and mesh tongue
- EVA comfort footbed
- Stabilising shank technology for underfoot protection and to reduce foot fatigue
- Lightweight low profile rubber outsole - great grip and hardwearing
Let me share with you some pictures of the Regatta Edgepoint walking boots in action, as well as a few pictures from the grounds of Herstmonceux Castle. I'd recommend a visit if you are in East Sussex and haven't been before, and brilliantly they accept the Gardeners World 2 for 1 card, so two of you can explore for just £8.00
