We all want to be warm and cosy in the winter when the weather is cold, but why is it that warm coats are often so very heavy? At the moment we are in that changeable season where one minute it is 20 degrees and the next it is 16 with a biting wind. So, it's important to have a jacket that can keep you warm when it needs to but is also light and small enough that you can roll it up and tuck it over your bag strap or put it in your bag.

The coat has been designed for climbers, skiers and hikers but it also would have been perfect for my daughter who completed her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award expedition a couple of weeks ago. It is polyester ripstop fabric with Iloft Woolfill 20% wool/ 80% polyester padding. There's also a water repellent finish and natural wicking and anti-bacterial odour control properties to the coat.
The stretch binding to the hood, cuffs and hem is obviously key when the wind gets up and will help keep rain or snow out too. There are two front slant zip pockets for storing your essentials and the front zip goes up nice and high to keep your neck and chin warm.
