Bloggy Reasons to be Cheerful

Happy Thursday friends. I hope you are well and managing to keep a smile on your face in the wake of the US presidential elections. All is good here and I'm feeling tip top.

Just a short post this week as I'm super busy but the reasons to be cheerful that I'm sharing are all blog related. It has been a fab week and in fact I am feeling really good about blogging at the moment. Maybe after 8 years I have finally found my happy place and feel confident in what my blog is and where I fit into the web-sphere.

Viral post
I've been a fan of Operation Christmas Child for about 13 years now and every year my family enjoy making shoe boxes. In 2012 I was lucky enough to travel to Belarus with them to give out shoe boxes and present some live webcasts. There can be a lot of negativity about Samaritans Purse, the charity that runs the Operations Christmas Child programme so I wrote a post this week about the reasons you might not want to take part and it has gone viral. My best page views in a very long time and a very decent amount of shares on Facebook too.

Featured on the Huffington Post
A couple of months back the Huff Post contacted me and asked if I'd like to be one of their bloggers. That in itself was flattering and I said yes and published a post about how we need to help our children learn not to be judgemental. Well, they obviously liked it as they contacted me last Friday to ask me to write a response to some research that was published in the Telegraph. As this was a faith piece it was right up my street and I hope I wrote a balanced piece that wouldn't alienate those with no faith.

The Huff Post made me a featured blogger which meant I got lots of traffic, tweets and shares. Oh and some comments from people very unhappy with me stating that I hope to pass my faith onto my kids. Apparently that makes me guilty of child abuse but I'm choosing to ignore the haters and am still really pleased I was invited to share.

Premier digital conference this weekend

A lovely friend is coming to stay with our kids this weekend whilst Dh and I get to head off to London for the Premier digital, conference. This is a conference aimed at Christians who have an interest in all things digital and social, it is right up my street and hubby normally enjoys it too. We can then head out for some food and an evening together, it will be so great to just spend some quality time together.

Over to you, why not join us?
It is now your turn. Why don't you write a post and link it up with us?
