36 Hours in London with my Hubby - A Big Reason to be Cheerful

How are you today friends? I hope the week has been treating you kindly. It’s been quite a good one here and I’m looking forward to a chilled and uneventful weekend.

The basis of this weeks Reasons to be Cheerful post was my overnight stay in London with my hubby last weekend. We only had 36 hours up there but it was enough to tire me out, as well as provide a fabulous time.

We headed up on the Friday morning once the kids were off to school and started the day with a wander of Borough Market, with coffee and cake at Southwark cathedral. It’s so nice to be able to chat without interruptions, and I really needed a break from hearing ‘Mum’!

Our lunch was at the London Steakhouse Co. in the city and this was a lovely restaurant, not too busy but with very attentive staff. We had a voucher, courtesy of buyagift.com but needed to buy a few bits to boast it up. Our food was divine and we also indulged in a cranberry cocktail, which is probably the first daytime alcoholic drink I’ve had this year!

We were both stuffed full after our lunch and walked it off heading to our hotel. We stayed at the Premier Inn, Old Street, where we have stayed before and you can often find a good price there. We paid £59 for the room and an extra £21 for the eat all you can breakfast buffet. I do adore a Premier Inn breakfast. We decided to have a relax for a while and I read my book. I think you get to that age where a trip away doesn’t have to be all fast paced and glamorous, just the ability to relax for a couple of hours in peace is blissful.

We saw loads of great graffiti as we walked around London
I’d been looking at theatre shows for the evening, to see if I could find us a good deal but actually we ended up changing some nectar points for Vue cinema tickets and went to see Bohemian Rhapsody and it was amazing. I really loved it and would happily go and see it again.

On the Saturday we headed over to the Brewery for the Premier Digital Conference and whilst most of the content wasn't pitched at the right level for me, it did give me yet another chance to chat to my husband and also inspired a couple of really good ideas that I need to build on.

We've already booked for next year, so I can't wait to do it again, and a big thanks goes to my friend Annie for looking after the kids.
